On our way to a day of exploring the West MacDonnell Ranges we see some famous Aboriginal art work, before arriving at the startling Standley Chasm, an impressive gap in the ranges with sheer red walls running parallel and only 3m’s apart. For those who love Australian history we visit The Ochre Pits where the traditional mineral source called ochre is mined and used for Aboriginal art and ceremonies.

On this 1 day tour of Australia’s outback we cross Owen Springs Cattle Station and learn of Sir Sydney Kidman ‘The Cattle King of Australia’. For those who appreciate spectacular scenery we pass by the Finke River, which is regarded as one of the longest and oldest rivers still following its original course. We will witness the rare vegetation at Palm Valley such as the Red Cabbage Palms and the Cycad Fern before retracing our steps along the Finke River to explore the historic town of Hermannsburg.
